In the spring of 2013, I was approached by my next door neighbor at 375 Charles St. Providence who told me that he was considering closing his Sprint cell phone store. This was a great opportunity for me to expand my vintage car and motorcycle business. My growing car business definitely needed the space. It's a real no no to store finished vehicles in the same building where other cars are being painted or restored. Keeping my finished show cars clean had become a full-time job. Keeping them always covered was not a good solution. After a little negotiating (I paid too much), we struck a deal. It was only later that I learned that a tenant remained in the rear of the property. What made it worse was that they had another year left on their lease even though the prior owner had told me the tenant was month-to-month.
I put the extra time to good use by remodeling the front of the building. We now have a clean showroom for displaying some of our finished cars. We also converted the forty-foot tall "Sprint" sign to say "Vintage Cars and Motorcycles". It can be clearly seen for miles on the highway.
